Front cover production

My front cover, i had to play around with as i changed it a few times. The first title i wanted was 'AIR MUSIC' with 'alternative-Indie-Rock' underneath in smaller writing. This was my initial idea as i thought it stood out, and looked attractive. I wanted the colour scheme to be black, white and black, so i made the masthead red as it was the only colour that actually stood out, and could be seen effectively. This was a test, as it wasn't a photo i was going to use, but just to see how the title stood out. As i didn't like it, i thought i might as well change the actually title, as i had a few different ideas.

After i had done the photo shoot, i then thought this photo would be perfect for the front cover. Using my idea of just 'AIR' as the title was a good idea, because there wasn't enough space above her head to put a long masthead. Using inspiration from 'Q' magazine, i loved the idea of having a colour behind the name of the magazine. Instead of having one with full opacity colour, i wanted the whole background to be in show all over, so i reduced the opacity, which looks a lot better than full colour.

For the name of the magazine, i had to choose a font. I tried out a few different ones but the only one that stood out to me was the fixed width. All the other ones seemed a bit compacted and didn't really stand out very much. The one i chose, i feel was simple but effective.
